Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme on 22 January 2015 in Panipat, Haryana.

The objective of this scheme is to stop the decline in the girl child sex ratio and promote women empowerment. This scheme is being run in different regions of India.

Another objective of the scheme is to remove discrimination against girls and bring about a change in the negative mindset of the people towards them

  • Expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme – With this scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao will also be taken forward. The cabinet said that at present the BBBP scheme is running in 161 districts and soon it will reach 640 districts.
  • One Stop Centers – The Cabinet Ministry has confirmed that around 150 One Stop Centers for women will be set up in different districts. These centers will be beneficial for survivors of sexual harassment cases. They will be provided with medical, psychological, legal and police protection under these centres.
  • Helpline – There will be a round the clock helpline for women in 36 states and UTs. They can ask for help anytime by dialing the helpline number.
  • Volunteers – The government has targeted volunteers in this scheme. More than 3 lakh students will be involved in this scheme, who are called volunteers and it will help in implementing it at the grassroots level.
  • Mahila Police Volunteer Scheme – Apart from these schemes, Mahila Police Volunteer Scheme will also be extended. At present, this scheme is applicable in only 10 districts of 5 states in India. After getting the extension, 65 districts will be covered.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana was launched by the Modi government on 22 January 2015. This schemes for women in india is for higher education and marriage of girls/girls below the age of 10 years. That is, this is a savings scheme for the safe future of girls.
